Library + Student = Success in School

It’s June, and while the school year is coming to a close, here at the public library we know it isn’t over just yet.

Each year we see many students with school projects and papers right up until the very end of school. And sometimes these students are in a bit of a panic because they are working under a very finite deadline.

Sno-Isle Libraries to the rescue!

The library subscribes to a large and growing collection of electronic resources that include databases, eBooks, magazines and newspapers. It’s a second library that can be accessed with your library card number from any computer. And this library is open 24 hours a day to help students meet their deadlines.

One of these resources is the Gale Virtual Reference Library. (we call it GVRL) It’s a collection of full text eBooks covering a wide range of subjects. And when I say eBook, I mean the actual book is online through the library’s website – from table of contents to index, and has a full citation for a bibliography.

Need a history resource? There are over 100 separate eBooks to choose from in the Gale Virtual Reference Library.

Have a science topic to research? Search the 57 science related eBooks in the GVRL.

Looking for literary criticism of a particular book? The GVRL has them.

Look for the GVRL in the A to Z title list here: http://www.sno-isle.org/?ID=1246, or ask your librarian for help.

One search looks at hundreds of books. All from the comfort of your home. In the middle of the night. When the paper is due tomorrow.

Who doesn’t need this?!
